Upon successfully completing this course, you’ll be able to:
- think critically and rhetorically with and about technology
- critique and interrogate traditional notions of literacy and offer alternative nuanced definitions;
- document and analyze various literacies and the technologies, media, and genres in and through which they’re performed;
- understand better technologies and media, old and new and the connections between, and the ways they inform what, why, where, and how we compose;
- classify and discuss confidently the ways texts interact and intersect with one another;
- identify and employ specific digital literacy practices such as remediation, remix, and vetting;
- recognize and grapple with the implications of digital literacy practices personally, ethically, socially, politically, educationally, and economically;
- engage in literate acts to create works appropriate for various audiences, genres, and media;
- formulate a well-rounded and informed understanding and definition of literacy, especially in digital environments; and
- play.
