Laser Pet Tutorial

Here is your assignment:

1. Find an image of a potential laser kitty (or any animal of your choice).
2. Next, find a background pattern or image for your laser pet to get busy.
3. Finally, find a foreground (like my little old school television) with which you can create a clipping mask for your mighty laser pet to jump through.
4. Use the Quick Selection Tool to cut out your laser pet from his or her or their original background.  Copy your solo laser pet using the Select arrow.
5. Now open your background.  Paste your cut laser pet on your background.
6. Next, copy and add your foreground image to a new layer over your laser pet and background.  Using the Magnetic Lasso Tool, cut the shape from this foreground through which your laser pet will fly and destroy. (I will help you with this step and the next if you need it).
7. Create a Clipping Mask from the drop down Layer menu.
8. Recover from the trauma of all that complicated stuff you just did.
9. NOW ONTO THE LASERS!!! Create a new layer and use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to create triangle laser areas. Then make sure your foreground color is set to white.
10. Next, double click the laser layer in the right layer menu.  Select “Outer Glow” and choose a color for your laser.  Increase size of glow.
11. Duplicate this for a brighter laser beam by right clicking your laser layer in the right layer menu and selecting “Duplicate Layer“.
12. Now use the type tool to add a word or words of what is holding you back!  Choose a color and typeface.  Add flames if you like.
13. VOILA!  You have made a laser pet.  You’re welcome.
